Park HighLights

Not to many people probably have seen the Moto-X pit being built, but here are the pictures. John worked hard on this and did a great job. This race pit as well as the mud pits were specifically built for Scott and the Highlifter Mud Nationals.

Here is what the Moto-X pit looked like on race day at the Highlifter Mud Nationals 2008. The action was fast and furious, and the pit was perfect.

They even have a sled pull section. Scott and I took our turns testing it out.

Okay, guys here is the main show, if anyone has been to Mud Creek has more than likely experienced the High Line/Power Line. Many people probably have never seen the high line like the below pictures, unless you were an old school rider at Mud Creek, but these pictures were taken in 2004, and its amazing the transformation from 2004 to 2009.

Back in the day the high line was basically un-touched and you could easily ride down it. What was is so important about the high line is it is the quickest way to access the front of the property to the back of the property. In 2004 there were no main trails or roads through the woods, you were basically forced down the high line. When the creeks were up and the high line became flooded you were forced into the woods.

As I said when the high line was flooded in 2004 you were forced into the woods, and you better know where the holes and creeks were or you and your machine were going to get swallowed. Since the high line is the main route to the back of the property  you had to take a lot of risks when the water is high.

Lets fast forward to the first time Mud Creek hosted the High Lifter Mud Nationals. Needless to say there were no roads or man made dikes that are now on the high line, so people had to go straight up the middle or navigate through the woods. Needless to say this provided a lot of entertainment, and a lot of lost machines. There were people who had to just leave their machine where they got stuck, because they could not get out. It was an amazing site.

After that nightmare or fun depending on the way you look at it, Royce decided to build a man made road to the left, along with several bridges for the next mud nationals. For the 2008 High Lifter Mud Nationals there was a man made dike that was a tremendous improvement, however people still got off to the sides, and found trouble real fast. On Friday and Saturday night it took between 2 and 3 hrs to work your way down the highline, it was a site to see.

As of February 2009 this is what the High Line looks today (above), Royce and his crew did an excellent job in repairing and improving the road down the highline. Its amazing the difference of the high line from 2004 (below) to 2009 (above).

Not only has the high line been improved, but there are now "super mud highways" through the woods, which makes navigating the property much easier. There are still dangers, but things are much better. They have also installed many more bridges.

Here is another main feature and that is the sand pit, which is at the end of the high line. This is a popular spot for people to go deep and either make it or don't.

Now, Mud Creek is not all mud there are dry trails that curve and twist through the woods and uplands of the property which is the northwest of the property.

Events

Due to the popularity of Mud Creek and the ability to host a large number of people, it is no surprise that many large events are held here from Mud Fest to High Lifter Mud Nationals. I personally enjoy riding at Mud Creek when there are events like High Lifter Mud Nationals, and I really enjoy riding the park when there are no events you basically have the entire park to yourself, and only living two hours from this park I feel very lucky, especially since I enjoy mud riding.

Magazine Testing

For my Magazine we have several parks that we use as our testing grounds. Whether we are testing out a new machine, product, tires, etc... I am always looking for a place that will offer the extremes. No doubt, Mud Creek is one of our places when we are conducting mud testing or reviews.

Special Thanks

Guys, none of this would be possible if it were not for Royce, and especially John. The improvements that have been made to this park over the past 5 years, is in large part due to John. I have seen John do everything from taking people on personal tours, to digging mud bogs, installing bridges, making roads, and welding, John does it all. So, the next time you see John, say thanks for a job well done.

Conclusion

Everyone needs to thank Royce and crew for not allowing huge 4x4 trucks onto the Atv Trails. unlike so many other parks that have let 4x4 trucks into their parks Mud Creek has not. In my opinion when you allow 4x4 trucks into an Atv Park you have just destroyed the trails. Go and ride a park that allows trucks, and see how long your machine will survive in the mud holes. In the end guys if you are looking for a place to take the family to, and a place to camp for the weekend Mud Creek is an excellent choice. Mud Creek has something to offer for everyone from the Hardcore Mudders to the Trail Riders.
