Here is another wild ride, and I should of known it was going to be wild and crazy. You know why? because Wild weather Chris and Dave from Houston joined us on this ride, and whenever they come we get the wildest weather at Wolf Pen Gap.
I should of also known this was going to be a wild since Steve a.k.a. Super Steve was riding with us for the first time.
Living down South we do not receive much snow, so during the winter we watch the weather very closely. Whenever, we see a storm front coming through, with the possibility of snow in Arkansas we immedately start heading for the hills. This trip could not have worked out more perfect, much better than I could have planned for. As Steve and I were driving up it started to sleet around 3pm, by the time we got to the cabin it started to snow, and by 6pm or so we had several inches of snow.
Of course as the snowed piled up the power started to flicker, and cut out. When we headed over to Chris's cabin we found them sitting in the dark, and getting ready. That night we took off for one hell of a ride in the middle of this snow storm, and I cannot even explain the feeling we had, and how fun it was. It was cut a little short, but we had a great time that night.
|Of course when we got back from our night ride the power was out most of the night. Lets just say it was a cold night.
The next day this is what I was greeted with when I woke up, I knew Steve was ready to ride.
We set out on our ride, and ran into one of the most beautiful rides I have been on in a very long time. However, with the weight of the snow we quickly ran into several trees down across the road and trail, which made for a long day of riding, no doubt this was a great, great ride.
We all rode up Hawks Overlook. The slick snow made for an interesting ride up.
We had another long day of riding up and over fallen trees, as well as cold creek crossings.
All in all we had a great time riding in one of the biggest snow storms in Arkansas history. It really does not get any better than this. We had a great group of guys to ride with, and it was a blast. Like I said Dave and Chris bring the wildest weather from Houston, I never know what to expect when they come up. A matter of fact when Chris rides with us, 2 out of the top 5 rides are with Chris, and the wild weather we had.
